Child Birth Classes

Why should I take a childbirth class?

We like to think our bodies will know just what to do, but sometimes we can get lost anyway. A childbirth class can help you and your partner create a plan for labor, delivery, the postpartum period, and newborn care. Knowing the process and what to do during it can help reduce stress and discomfort when it’s actually time to give birth.

We always want you to have a positive breastfeeding experience. UNICEF and the World Health Organization recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of a baby’s life. Scientific evidence has shown the benefits of breastfeeding for infant survival, growth and development. Breast milk provides all the nutrients an infant needs during the first six months. When you deliver at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, lactation specialists are always available to help you meet your goals by offering prenatal breastfeeding classes, consultations, breast pump rentals/sales and a breastfeeding help line. Please call Lactation Services at (262) 928-7650 for more information.
